Stonehenge

A trip to Stonehenge is high on many bucket lists for tourists to the UK (and with Brits themselves) with approximately 800,000 people choosing to visit Stonehenge each year, it was a no brainer that whilst we were over this way we had to stop.

We decided to make Stonehenge our halfway stop between Oxford and Axmouth to break up the 3 hour drive and also tick something off the lists! I will usually pay to enter places like this but paying nearly £70 for 3 of us to see it when Hugo wouldn’t be able to go in either seemed a little pricey so we decided to park near the public footpath on Willoughby Rd & Fargo Rd at Larkhill and we walked the 30 minutes up to the public footpath.

If it hadn’t been so hot then it would have been a really lovely walk but it was very hot so the uphill bits were a struggle! Once we got to the footpath we noticed that it is literally next to the one where people are paying to go, you can still see the stone and get photos the only downside is that you can’t see them from all angles.

We headed back down but stopped at a little fruit stall at the top for some strawberries, cherries and grapes to walk down with and also some local honey for breakfast.

We walked back down at our own pace and then headed back to the car for the next leg of our journey. Whilst it was nice to see Stonehenge as I haven’t seen it before, I don’t think I would go back again now and if definitely wouldn’t pay to see them.
